I found a wonderful free softward on the the net called G.I.M.P. It is the equivlant to Adobe photoshop. It is not the easiest thing to learn or operate, but I have accomplished some things that I want to do with my digital scrapbooking using that program. So it does not appear that the software has outsmarted me, for the moment.

There is a lot more that the software can do, but I have not ventured into that yet, you may see it in upcoming posts.
